Mastizaade Full Movie: A Review

Mastizaade is a 2016 Bollywood sex comedy film directed by Milap Zaveri and starring Sunny Leone, Tusshar Kapoor and Vir Das in the lead roles. The film was released on January 29, 2016 and received mostly negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. However, the film was a commercial success at the box office, earning over 38 crore against a budget of 19 crore.

Plot

The film revolves around the lives of two sex addicts, Sunny Kele (Tusshar Kapoor) and Aditya Chothia (Vir Das), who fall in love with twin sisters, Lily Lele and Laila Lele (both played by Sunny Leone), who run a sex addiction clinic. The film follows their hilarious escapades as they try to woo the sisters and face various obstacles along the way.

Critical Reception

The film received mostly negative reviews from critics who criticized the film for its vulgar humor, poor script and direction, and wasted performances. The film has a rating of 0% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 5 reviews. Rajeev Masand of CNN-News18 gave the film zero stars out of five and called it "a spectacularly crass sex comedy that is neither funny nor sexy". Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express gave the film half a star out of five and wrote that "the only way to survive this assault on your senses is to pretend that you are watching a spoof". Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV gave the film one star out of five and said that "Mastizaade is a two-hour ordeal that no self-respecting moviegoer should be subjected to". However, some critics gave the film a positive or mixed review. Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave the film three stars out of five and praised the film for its entertainment value, music and performances. Surabhi Redkar of Koimoi gave the film two stars out of five and said that "Mastizaade is strictly for those who love cheap thrills".

Box Office

The film opened with a collection of 5.59 crore on its first day, making it the sixth highest opening day grosser of 2016. The film showed a slight growth on its second day, earning 6.11 crore. The film had a decent first weekend collection of 18.45 crore. The film dropped on its first Monday, collecting 2.89 crore. The film had a steady run during the weekdays, earning 10.26 crore in its first week. The film faced competition from new releases in its second week and collected 4.50 crore. The film had a lifetime collection of 38.42 crore in India and 7.58 crore overseas, making it a profitable venture for the producers.
